Description
We are surrounded by new technologies – which we know Students must embrace in order to succeed in many of tomorrows in demand technical careers.
The challenge is in how to effectively teach these complex technologies within the school framework.
Technology Education provides a range of hands on leaning packages that help Schools provide practical, relevant and interesting curriculum choices.
No complex preparation is required, each learning package is suppled ready to go, with all the required parts, documents and extensive background materials.
The MiRobot is our top of the line learning package, guiding the student through parts manufacture, assembly, testing and programming of a five axis and Gripper Robot. Not just uninteresting theory – real “hands on” learning.
Students and Teachers will be proud to show off the completed robots and Students get to take home their MiRobot to show family and friends what they have achieved.
The MiRobot provides exposure to :
> 3D Printing Technology.
> Mechanical assembly.
> Basic Robot Programming.
> Electrical / Electronic connection.
> Robot and Automation Concepts.
> Microprocessor Systems ( Arduino ).
> Information & Communication Technology.
By following the step by step directions the student is guided through the project, whilst also learning about the underpinning technologies involved.
MiRobot is supplied with a Microsoft Windows® based Programming and Visualization package – ready to go, as well as a pre programmed Arduino UNO.
The MiRobot package is also flexible, its advanced functions allow students to take the finished MiRobot and build on it, creating their own interlinked robot arrays or even write their own software control systems… taking advantage of the open interface framework. Its a learning package than spans many curriculum areas.
MiRobot is designed to be safe, its low mass and force, and battery powered.
Contact TechnologyEducation today to discover more about this fantastic solution to the challenges of teaching tomorrows Technology.
Unlike Toys or Model Kits, MiRobot is Student manufactured and assembled.
We supply all the required Electronic and Mechanical components, printed Manuals, Software and 3D Printing files, ready to go, in a single box.
Each package contains :
> Step by Step Construction Manuals.
> Operation and Programming Guide.
> Reference / Background Materials on the technologies used.
> 3D printing files in .STL format.
> Required components, fasteners, cables, electronics.
> Assembled Microprocessor and Interface Boards.
> MiRobot programming and visualization software / device drivers.
No time consuming development required !
No complex and frustrating purchasing or resource printing required !
Teachers can spend their time educating… not developing resources.
Institutions will require :
> One or more 3D Plastic Printers ( depends on class size / time frames ).
> Microsoft Windows ® compatible Computers with at least one USB Port.
> Set of “Jewellers Screwdrivers” for assembly.
> M3, M4 Metric taps.
Depending on the Curriculum, available time and resources the MiRobot Package can easily be extended to include the following Technology areas.
> 3D Computer Aided Design.
> Basic Electronics.
> Networking and Interfacing.
> Microprocessor Programming ( Arduino “C” )
> Computer Programming ( any Language and platform ).
> Programmable Logic Controllers.
The printed Manuals and Guides are structured with multiple “Reference Sections”, Students don’t have to develop an in depth understanding to complete the MiRobot….. but the extra information is available as required.
MiRobot has “Advanced Functions” :
> User Controlled Output – to activate external devices
> User Controlled Handshaking – to construct synchronised Robot arrays and interface with other Micro Controller / Computer systems.
> Remote Command Interface – MiRobot can be controlled by student developed software through the MiRobot Control Interface.
> Remote Command Interface – MiRobot can be controlled over a network or even over the Internet.
> Video Feed – MiRobot supports WebCams for remote viewing / recording
> Replace the Arduino Uno – Students can create their own stand alone Robot Operating System using the Free Arduino Programming Tools.
Students can use the Advanced Functions at home without School support.
